17 March 2020
You will be aware of the Government announcements last week surrounding the Coronavirus epidemic in the UK, we have now moved from the 'contain' phase to the 'delay' phase of the COVID-19/Coronavirus strategy.
We have had NO known COVID-19 cases within our Academy, but we are taking precautions as outlined by the Government and Public Health England and their recent announcements.
As a result of this, some staff, as a precaution, are having to self-isolate, meaning we are unable to maintain the current staff/pupil ratios and meet pupils needs to ensure a safe environment.
Therefore, it is necessary that we close our Academy as of Tuesday 17th March 2020 until after the Easter break. This decision has not been taken lightly and we will be closely monitoring the current situation daily.
At the moment, we are looking to re-open following the Easter break on Monday 20th April 2020, however we will take into consideration the advice from the Government and Public Health England around this time to ascertain whether we will be safe to re-open as normal on this date. We will update all staff, pupils and parents/carers nearer the time.
Work for pupils to complete at home during the closure has been collated by Teaching staff and will be sent home via your preferred method of contact (email or post - as discussed with your child's Form tutor). Work will also be uploaded for each year group on our school website, under the Student Work Area for you to download.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for your continued support and understanding during these difficult times. This decision has been made to protect those vulnerable staff, pupils and their families during the Coronavirus outbreak.
If you have any questions, please use the contact form on the 'Contact Us' page of the website, your query will be forwarded on to relevant staff by our Admin team. Staff will be working from home during the school closure and will be able to answer any questions you may have via email, we will ensure to communicate regularly with all parents/carers and stakeholders via email and our website. Please do not contact us using the main office telephone number at this time.
Yours sincerely,
Mr M. Burgiss
Head of Academy
